    In June 2025, Biodiversity and Conservation accepted for publication our paper “AviList: a Unified Global Bird Checklist”. This paper describes why AviList was needed, what the process and governance of the list entails, and formally introduces AviList as the Global Bird Checklist.

  • Deliberations for v2025 now public

    The first version of AviList (v2025) was the product of extensive deliberations on taxonomic issues that did not have a widespread consensus among the major global bird lists. The entirety of those deliberations and discussions are now public.
